Policies
Peer Review Policy
EDAS is committed to ensuring a rigorous and transparent peer review process. To accommodate different preferences and enhance the flexibility of the review process, authors submitting their manuscripts can choose between single-blind or double-blind peer review.
- Single-Blind Review: In the single-blind review process, the identities of the reviewers are kept anonymous to the authors, but the authors' identities are known to the reviewers.
- Double-Blind Review: In the double-blind review process, both the authors’ and reviewers’ identities are kept confidential. This process is designed to reduce potential biases and promote impartiality.
How to Choose:
- During Submission: Authors are required to choose between single-blind and double-blind peer review when submitting their manuscript. This choice should reflect their consideration of the nature of their work, their personal preferences, and any concerns about bias. Once the preferred review process is selected, authors should upload their manuscript accordingly.
- Guidance for Double-Blind Submissions: For those opting for double-blind review, ensure to remove all identifying information, such as author names, affiliations, and acknowledgments, from the manuscript text, including headers, footers, and document properties.
Review Process Workflow:
- Manuscript Submission: Authors submit their manuscripts through the journal's online submission system, choosing either single-blind or double-blind review.
- Initial Assessment: The editorial team conducts an initial assessment to ensure the manuscript fits the journal's scope and meets basic quality standards.
- Reviewer Selection: The manuscript is sent to two reviewers who are experts in the field. For single-blind reviews, reviewers are selected with full knowledge of the authors' identities. For double-blind reviews, reviewers are selected without access to identifying information about the authors.
- Review Process: Reviewers evaluate the manuscript based on its originality, methodology, significance, and contribution to the field. They provide detailed feedback and recommendations for acceptance, revision, or rejection.
- Editorial Decision: The Editor-in-Chief, along with the editorial team, considers the reviewers' feedback and makes the final decision on the manuscript.
- Author Notification: Authors are notified of the editorial decision and provided with the reviewers' comments. If revisions are required, authors are given the opportunity to address the feedback and resubmit their manuscript. Note: Authors must submit their revised manuscript by the specified deadline. If no response is received by the deadline, the manuscript is liable to be withdrawn from further processing. However, authors may request an extension if additional time is needed, and such requests should be made to the editor as early as possible to allow for appropriate adjustments.
The review process of EDAS can be seen in Fig 1.

Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement
EDAS is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and takes all possible measures against publication malpractice. The journal follows the guidelines outlined by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and expects authors to adhere to ethical standards regarding research conduct, data integrity, authorship, and conflicts of interest.
Author Responsibilities:
- Originality and Plagiarism: Authors must ensure that their work is original and has not been plagiarized. Proper acknowledgment and citation of the work and words of others must be given. Manuscripts found to contain plagiarized material will be rejected.
- Multiple, Redundant, or Concurrent Publication: Authors should not submit the same manuscript to more than one journal simultaneously. Submitting the same manuscript to multiple journals constitutes unethical publishing behavior and is unacceptable.
- Data Integrity: Authors must present accurate data and results. Fabrication, falsification, or selective reporting of data is strictly prohibited. Authors should be prepared to provide raw data for editorial review and must be willing to make data publicly available if required.
- Acknowledgment of Sources: Proper acknowledgment of the work of others must always be given. Authors should cite publications that have influenced the reported work.
- Authorship of the Paper: Authorship should be limited to those who have made a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported study. All those who have made significant contributions should be listed as co-authors. Others who have participated in certain substantive aspects of the research project should be acknowledged.
- Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest: Authors must disclose any financial or other substantive conflicts of interest that might be interpreted to influence the results or interpretation of their manuscript. All sources of financial support for the project should be disclosed.
- Fundamental Errors in Published Works: If an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in their published work, it is their obligation to promptly notify the journal editor or publisher and cooperate with them to retract or correct the paper.
Reviewer Responsibilities:
- Confidentiality: Reviewers must treat the manuscript received for review as a confidential document. They must not disclose or discuss it with others except as authorized by the editor.
- Objectivity: Reviews should be conducted objectively, and reviewers should provide clear, well-reasoned feedback. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate.
- Acknowledgment of Sources: Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors. Any statement that an observation, derivation, or argument has been previously reported should be accompanied by the relevant citation.
- Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest: Reviewers should not consider manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships or connections with any of the authors, companies, or institutions connected to the papers.
- Promptness: Reviewers are expected to respond in a timely manner and should inform the editor if they are unable to review the manuscript or require an extension.
Editor Responsibilities:
- Publication Decisions: The editor-in-chief is responsible for deciding which of the articles submitted to the journal should be published. The decision should be based on the importance, originality, clarity, and relevance of the paper to the journal's scope. The editor may consult other editors or reviewers in making this decision.
- Fair Play: An editor evaluates manuscripts for their intellectual content without regard to race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy of the authors.
- Confidentiality: The editor and any editorial staff must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, other editorial advisers, and the publisher, as appropriate.
- Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest: Unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript must not be used in an editor's own research without the express written consent of the author. Editors should recuse themselves from handling manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest.
- Handling of Unethical Behavior: Editors should take responsive measures when ethical complaints are presented concerning a submitted manuscript or published paper. They should follow appropriate COPE guidelines to address misconduct, which may include contacting the author, and possibly the author's institution, and publishing corrections, retractions, or expressions of concern.
Ethical Guidelines:
- Adherence to Ethical Standards: All research involving human subjects or animals must comply with the ethical standards set by the relevant regulatory bodies. Authors must ensure that their research complies with institutional, national, and international guidelines. EDAS follows the World Medical Association’s (WMA) policy for research involving humans and the ARRIVE guidelines for animals
- Informed Consent: For research involving human participants, authors must confirm that informed consent was obtained from all participants. The manuscript must include a statement confirming that the study was conducted in accordance with the Declaration of Helsinki and that participants’ privacy rights were observed.
- Protection of Research Participants: Authors must ensure that the identities of participants in research studies are protected and that their confidentiality is maintained. Any identifying information should be removed or anonymized unless explicit consent has been obtained.
- Ethical Treatment of Animals: Research involving animals must adhere to ethical guidelines for the care and use of animals in research. Authors must provide details of the ethical approval obtained and ensure that all procedures minimize suffering and follow the appropriate regulations.
- Ethical Approval: Authors must provide information about the ethical approval of their research. This includes the name of the ethics committee that approved the study and the reference number or code assigned by the committee.
Handling Misconduct:
- Detection and Prevention: The journal employs plagiarism detection tools to check submissions for potential ethical issues. Editors and reviewers are encouraged to be vigilant in detecting possible ethical breaches.
- Response to Allegations: If misconduct is suspected, the journal will conduct a thorough investigation. If misconduct is confirmed, appropriate actions will be taken, which may include contacting the author’s institution, issuing a correction or retraction, or reporting the matter to relevant authorities.
- Sanctions: In cases of proven misconduct, the journal reserves the right to impose sanctions on the responsible individuals. This may include a ban on future submissions to the journal, notification to the author’s institution, retraction of published work and public disclosure of the misconduct.

EDAS is committed to open access publishing to ensure that research findings are widely accessible and can be freely shared and distributed. All articles published in the journal will be made freely available to the public immediately upon publication, without any subscription or access fees.
- Open Access License: All articles published in EDAS are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0). Authors retain copyright of their work, allowing others to freely distribute, remix, adapt, and build upon the work, as long as proper attribution is given to the original authors.
- Article Processing Charges (APCs): To support accessibility and encourage submissions from researchers worldwide, Engineering Dynamics and Applied Sciences has waived all APCs until December 2026. This waiver ensures that authors can publish their work without any financial burden, promoting inclusivity and expanding the reach of valuable research. After December 2026, APCs may be introduced, but the journal will provide clear and transparent information about any fees to authors well in advance.
- Archiving and Digital Preservation: The journal is committed to the long-term preservation of its content through participation in the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN). Copyright Policy
Authors who publish with Engineering Dynamics and Applied Sciences agree to the following terms:
- Copyright Retention and Publication Rights: Authors retain full copyright of their work and grant the journal the right of first publication. The published work will be licensed under a CC BY 4.0, allowing others to share and adapt the content with proper acknowledgment of the original authors and the journal.
- Additional Distribution and Online Posting: Authors may engage in separate non-exclusive agreements for distributing the published version of their work (e.g., in institutional repositories or books), with credit to the journal. They are also encouraged to post their work online before and during the submission process to facilitate early exchanges and increase citation potential.
- Third-Party Content: Authors are responsible for ensuring that any third-party content (such as images, figures, or tables) included in their manuscript complies with copyright laws. If the manuscript contains any third-party material that is not covered under an open license, the authors must obtain permission from the copyright holder before submitting the manuscript to the journal. When using third-party content, authors must include appropriate citations to acknowledge the original source. The journal does not take responsibility for obtaining these permissions; it is the authors' responsibility to secure the necessary rights and provide evidence of permission upon request.
Plagiarism and Duplicate Submission Policy
EDAS is committed to maintaining high standards of academic integrity and ethical publishing practices. Authors must ensure that their work is original and free from any form of plagiarism or duplication.
- Plagiarism: Plagiarism is strictly prohibited and includes using someone else's work, ideas, data, or words without proper attribution. The journal uses Turnitin plagiarism detection software to screen all submissions, and a maximum similarity threshold of 10% with each source maximal 4% is allowed. If a manuscript exceeds this threshold or is found to contain plagiarized content including self-plagiarism, it will be rejected immediately. If plagiarism is detected after publication, the article will be retracted, and the authors may be barred from future submissions to the journal.
- Duplicate Submission: Authors must also ensure that their manuscript is not under consideration by any other journal and has not been previously published. Duplicate submission is unethical and will result in the rejection of the manuscript. The journal reserves the right to take appropriate action if a violation of this policy is discovered.
Withdrawal, Correction, and Retraction Policy
Engineering Dynamics and Applied Sciences is committed to maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the scholarly record. To uphold these standards, the journal has established the following policy on withdrawals, corrections, and retractions.
- Withdrawals: Manuscripts may be withdrawn by the authors before publication if they wish to remove their submission from consideration. To withdraw a manuscript, authors must send an email to the editor formally requesting withdrawal. However, once an article is published, withdrawal is not permitted except under exceptional circumstances, such as significant errors or ethical concerns that are brought to the journal's attention. Withdrawal requests after publication are subject to the editor's approval, and if granted, the article will be retracted following the procedures outlined in retractions.
- Corrections: If an error is identified in a published article that affects its content, interpretation, or data but does not compromise the overall findings, a correction will be issued. The correction will be published as soon as possible and linked to the original article. The original article will not be altered; instead, a notice of correction will be added to inform readers of the changes.
- Retractions: In cases where a published article is found to contain significant errors, misconduct, or falsified data that undermine the validity of its findings, the journal will retract the article. A retraction notice will be published and linked to the original article, which will be marked as retracted. The text of the article will remain accessible, but a watermark indicating its retraction will be added. Retractions are issued to preserve the integrity of the academic record and to alert readers to significant issues with the published work. The retraction procedure will follow the guidelines outlined by COPE at https://publicationethics.org/retraction-guidelines.
AI Usage Policy
EDAS recognizes the growing role of artificial intelligence (AI) tools in research and scholarly publishing. While AI can assist in various stages of research, writing, and review, the journal upholds strict guidelines to ensure its ethical and appropriate use.
- AI in Manuscript Preparation: Authors may use AI tools to assist in data analysis, literature review, language editing, and other technical aspects of manuscript preparation. However, AI should not be used to generate content that is presented as original research or to write substantial portions of the manuscript. The intellectual contributions, interpretations, and conclusions of the research must be the work of the authors.
- Disclosure of AI Use: Authors must disclose any significant use of AI tools in the preparation of their manuscript. This includes the use of AI for generating text, translating content, data analysis, or other research-related activities. Such disclosures should be included in the acknowledgments section of the manuscript, specifying the AI tools used and the extent of their contribution.
- AI in Peer Review: Reviewers are permitted to use AI tools to assist in tasks such as language checking, cross-referencing, or fact-checking. However, AI should not replace the critical judgment and expertise that reviewers provide. Reviewers must ensure that their feedback is original, unbiased, and based on a thorough evaluation of the manuscript.
- AI-Generated Content: The journal does not accept submissions that are generated primarily by AI without human oversight or intellectual contribution. Any content generated by AI must be clearly identified as such, and the human authors must take full responsibility for the integrity, accuracy, and originality of the manuscript.
- Ethical Use of AI: Authors and reviewers are expected to use AI tools ethically and responsibly, ensuring that they do not introduce biases, errors, or unethical practices into the research or review process. The misuse of AI tools, including the generation of deceptive or misleading content, will be considered a breach of the journal's ethical standards.

- Conflicts of Interest: Reviewers should declare any potential conflicts of interest that may influence their ability to provide an unbiased review. Conflicts of interest may include professional relationships, financial interests, or personal connections with the authors or their institutions.
- Respect for Authorship: Reviewers should respect the intellectual contributions of the authors and acknowledge their efforts in the review process. Any suggestions for additional citations or references should be made in a constructive manner and based on the merits of the research.
- Adherence to Guidelines: Reviewers should familiarize themselves with the journal's policies, scope, formatting guidelines, COPE guidelines for reviewers, and ensure that their reviews align with these requirements.
- Final Decision: While reviewers provide valuable input, the final decision regarding acceptance, rejection, or revision of a manuscript rests with the editor. Reviewers should respect the editor's decision and refrain from engaging in discussions or debates with authors based on their review comments.
